As a Respiratory Therapist with the Red Deer Home Care Team, you will work as a valued member of the interdisciplinary team providing care to the residents of Red Deer. You will work closely with Home Care Rehab, nursing case managers, the palliative care team, and other specialty service providers. As a frontline Respiratory Therapist, you will provide a full spectrum of services to clients living in their own homes. Your daily activities will include: Assessment of clients’ respiratory needs. Development and ongoing modification of individualized treatment plans reflecting a strong client-centered approach. Collaborative problem solving with clients and the interdisciplinary team. Provision of education to clients, informal care givers, and staff. In addition, you will have opportunity to participate in: Asthma education and management. COPD education and management. As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

2 years of experience in the last 5 years working in a community setting. 2 years of experience in the last 5 years working in gerontology.
