Safety and Compliance Advisor: Is accountable and responsible for leading Calgary Zone’s Capital Management Department in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance-related initiatives relative to government legislation, industry-recognized standards and organizational policy. This individual works autonomously and uses a high degree of resourcefulness and independent judgement in the execution of their duties. Is recognized as an expert in the field of workplace health and safety and has specialized skill in other core accountabilities. Core accountabilities include: Workplace Health and Safety. Infection Prevention & Control. Critical Maintenance Compliance. Is a trained and effective communicator and adept in establishing relationships and creating coalitions across department and program boundaries. Is required to have expertise in and remain current in regulations, codes, standards, policies, and practices related to core programs, especially workplace health and safety. Has a portfolio of established business skills (business writing, gap analysis, process mapping, metrics, etc.) to aid in the development, execution, monitoring, and reporting of programs. Is flexible and adaptable to environmental diversities.

Minimum essential qualifications include: A post-secondary degree or trade certification. A safety designation (NCSO, CRSP, CRST, CSO) or a commitment to obtain one. Five years of safety experience. A valid 5th class Alberta driver’s license. Proficient in English.

Knowledge and skill requirements include: Leadership skills (communicational, organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making, etc.). Health care facility operations and maintenance. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite. Training, teaching, and speaking to groups of people.
