The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) Redevelopment, with a budget of $1.8 billion, is a fast-paced Major Capital Project (MCP) involving the concurrent design and construction of a new tower within the existing hospital site, alongside the development of a new P3 Ambulatory Care Building (ACB) situated in close proximity to the hospital. Upon completion of the new tower, extensive renovations will occur to the existing hospital. The overall project, which exceeds the complexity and scale of a typical healthcare MCP, is expected to be completed over the next 8 - 10 years. The project’s primary goal is to enhance and increase healthcare services for the citizens of central Alberta. The Logistics Senior Project Manager, reporting directly to the Logistics Program Lead, plays a key role within the RDRHC Alberta Health Services (AHS) Project Team, with strong ties to the rest of the Project Management Office (PMO) Team, Alberta Infrastructure (AI), Alberta Health, and relevant AHS internal stakeholders. Supporting the Logistics Program Lead, the Logistics Senior Project Manager will lead the development of dashboards for AHS Executive and Zone leaders, tracking requests, decisions, and deficiencies to facilitate issue resolution and strategy development for meeting a compressed schedule.

The successful candidate will be the AHS lead on a variety of projects throughout their lifecycle, primarily focusing on projects related to the decanting of departments impacted by the construction of the new tower, the ACB development, and other peripheral projects that may arise as a result of the RDRHC Redevelopment MCP. The Logistics Senior Project Manager will act as a liaison between AI and AHS, overseeing and delegating project-related logistics tasks to the Logistics Coordinator and Logistics Planner. These tasks include project related logistics such as equipment and furniture delivery and installation, organizing building system shutdowns, coordination of moves in clinical and administrative environments among others. The successful candidate will also lead the development of decant solutions and implementation strategies within an active acute care facility while prioritizing patient care and operational continuity. Other responsibilities include management of communication of construction activities with AHS Site Administration, leading risk assessments related to patient, staff, and visitor safety, managing AHS internal schedules and budgets as required. Utilization of management tools to track project progress, maintain project controls, and ensure quality assurance are key aspects for this role. The Logistics Senior Project Manager will engage key internal and external stakeholders early in the planning phase to ensure seamless collaboration, effective communication, and alignment of project requirements and expectations. This conscientious approach demonstrates AHS’s commitment to prevent any liabilities or delays and ensuring timely completion of the RDRHC MCP.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in health business administration, architecture, or related discipline. Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Program Management Professional (PgMP®) designation, or equivalent project management experience and a Prosci® Certification in Change Management would be considered an asset. With a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive project management experience, the Logistics Senior Project Manager must have successfully led small to large-scale complex, multi-year, and multi-stakeholder projects, preferably in a healthcare environment. Skillsets include facilitation, conflict resolution, and risk management with a proven track record of delivering quality projects on time and within budget.

Exceptional organizational skills and a proactive mindset are essential to anticipate and address potential issues that could impact the overall construction budget and schedule of the RDRHC Major Capital Project. The Logistics Senior Project Manager should exhibit the ability to work with a high degree of independence and provide integrated and well-coordinated planning and project execution. Proficiency in project management is essential for this position. Key qualifications include leadership, strong analytical and decision-making abilities, expertise in project management tools to track progress and maintain project controls, and adaptability to effectively work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to undertake project-related tasks to ensure successful project outcomes. Strong ability to communicate verbally, in writing, and with infographics to describe complex moves, project phasing, and schedules. The Logistics Senior Project Manager should possess the ability to promote a positive work environment by fostering teamwork, encouraging open communication, and maintaining high ethical and professionalism standards, even in complex and challenging settings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, OneNote, and Adobe Pro is expected.
