Service Worker I

The CT department at the Royal Alexandra Hospital is a fast-paced environment providing support to Trauma Services, Thoracic Surgery, ICU, and several other programs. Patients are seen through the Emergency Department, Inpatient units, and outpatient referral. As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Demonstrated excellent skills in interpersonal, written/oral communication. Proven judgment and decision-making. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with STORES inventory, procedural supplies, sterile fields (drains, Traumas, Biopsies), radiation safety, cleaning and disinfecting. Ability to work in stressful situations and a desire to further your knowledge and performance relating to diagnostic imaging. Must be able to work with various health disciplines and demonstrate respect and partnership. Must be able to cover all shifts including days, weekends, evening, nights. Must be able to complete all components of OHS job - pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting/carrying/transferring patients and supplies> 50lbs with high repetitive frequency. Standing and walking for long periods possibly 6.25 hours. Previous training in patient transfers and movements.
