Provides a diverse range of routine general services support to the Systemic Therapy Unit. This position may also provide customer service-related activities including transportation of patients to other areas of the Cross Cancer Institute. May provide clerical services, stocking of supplies, cleaning of equipment and care areas, equipment operation, basic maintenance and repair, materials handling, delivery of blood products, and other related duties in accordance with day-to-day requirements of the department. Maintenance of Inventory: Ensure adequate equipment and supplies are readily available for the staff to access for patient care. Ensure cytotoxic bins are removed from patient care areas when indicated and replaced. May coordinate and expedite purchase/delivery of supplies and equipment. Assembles kits. Proactive in maintenance of inventory to minimize interruption to operations. Cleaning of Equipment and Care Areas: Cleans non-essential equipment regularly and as per IP & C standards (i.e., IV carts, stocking carts). Uses appropriate PPE when cleaning of materials and equipment as per WHMIS and IP & C standards. Assist with cleaning of essential equipment as directed by manager. Knowledge of cytotoxic spill management. Ensure general cleanliness of all patient care areas. Monitoring of laundry bags and replacing bags when adequately full. Transportation of Patients & Materials: May be asked to assist in transporting patients to other areas of hospital. Delivery of blood and blood products to areas from lab. Transport cytotoxic or medications within treatment areas and to pharmacy as per policy. Responding to pages in a timely manner.

As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.
