The Social Worker II (Registered Social Worker (RSW) position offers an exciting opportunity to join the Edmonton Operational Stress Injury Clinic (EOSIC) located at Northgate Centre. Utilizing evidence-based practice and working within a multi-disciplinary team the RSW will provide concurrent capable, trauma informed, and recovery-oriented addiction and mental health services to veterans, still serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and RCMP. The RSW is primarily responsible for direct clinical service in the area(s) of intake screening and needs assessment of individuals with complex mental health and/or concurrent disorders as well as psychosocial needs or problems related to operational stress injuries. The Social Worker II may also provide support to clients’ families as identified and facilitate psycho-social/educational groups. The RSW, in collaboration with the Manager and Clinical Supervisor, ensures that clinical services are delivered safely, are of high quality, and are aligned and compliant with the national Guidelines for Operational Stress Injury Clinics and Recovery Alberta policy and procedures. Services are provided using an interdisciplinary model of care and adhere to the Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care for clients, families, and community partners. Positive client outcomes will be achieved through engaging the client in a collaborative care process, the use of effective interdisciplinary consultation, outcomes monitoring, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. The RSW will work collaboratively with referring organizations (Veterans Affairs Canada, the Department of National Defence, and the RCMP) as well as other community health and social service providers.

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Minimum 3 years' experience in Mental Health and/or Addictions, working with clients experiencing complex mental health and/or concurrent disorders and problems related to social and occupational functioning. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. Employer provided Suicide Risk Management, Prevention of Harassment and Violence (PoHV), and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.

Preference given to applicants with strong concurrent disorders capability. Working knowledge of Level of Care Utilization System (LOCUS) is an asset. Assets: Experience with electronic medical records (Recovery Alberta uses Epic Connect Care). Previous experience working with this population.
