The Social Worker III Team Lead at the Sturgeon Community Hospital is responsible for the leadership and coordination of staff, programs and services within ED, Women’s Health, NICU, Critical Care areas, Surgery, Medicine and Ambulatory Clinics. The Team Lead is responsible for mentoring, responding to clinical questions and coordinating ongoing skill development to deliver clinical services based on evidence and population need across the continuum of health. This role coordinates the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of programs and services. You will also act as a consistent liaison and resource for staff, physicians, and students. This position leads interdisciplinary staff to provide evidence informed services within program parameters and in adherence with AHS and other relevant legislation, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. The Team Lead is a key participant in zone and provincial initiatives and collaborates with discipline-specific Professional Practice Leads to implement supported and leading practices. This role aids the manager in selection, orientation, supervision, evaluation of SW staff and advises the manager in coordinating program orientations. Daily duties may include SW practice reviews, workload utilization, referral triage, and student placements. To be successful in this position, you will have well developed leadership skills and experience, as well as excellent communication skills. Working closely with patients, your team and physicians will be an important aspect of this position, so strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships will be integral to your success. As a leader, you will be highly adaptive and responsive, and able to assist others with critical thinking and problem solving.

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Minimum 1-year recent supervisory experience. 3-5 Years prior experience in an acute mental health setting. Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions essential. Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Alberta Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act and the options for patients to receive health care treatment when their decision-making ability is impaired. Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting. Demonstrated ability in leading teams, coaching, mentoring and teaching, to facilitate practice growth in others. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external/community stakeholders. In-Depth knowledge of Mental health / Mental Illness required.
