Description
As a Support Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of all supply chain functions of various Central Zone surrounding AHS sites, including shipping, receiving, and distribution of medical surgical supplies to support clinical operations. You will serve as the single point of contact within your geographic area for all matters related to Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management services (CPSM). This position provides oversight and coordination of the clinically integrated supply chain on AHS sites which includes holding overall accountability, planning, clinical engagement, supply usage and demand and ongoing monitoring of supply change challenges. The incumbent must view issues and problems from a system wide context and evaluate how issues and changes will impact operations, locally and how these issues may impact the larger system. This position must have a keen sense of what items require escalation to senior executive for awareness (or decision) and when. This position will play an important role in building, sustaining, and monitoring existing clinical operations partnerships for mutual success with various CPSM programs, such as Warehousing, Equipment, Surplus, Master Data Management, Transportation, and Procurement. The position develops and maintains strong working relationships with key clinical stakeholders and site leadership across a broad scope of AHS clinical service areas, programs, and services such as Clinical Operations, Lab, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Imaging, Clinical Engineering, Medical Device Reprocessing, etc. A significant aspect of this position is being able to participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) responses within your geographic area representing all CPSM functions.
Management of an annual budget. Soft costs associated to but not limited to staff retention and recruitment, staff management and scheduling, staff engagement and inspiration, promotion of Workplace Health and Safety success, actioning product conversions/changes/substitutions, carts maintenance, customer supports and communication, point of use supplies management, response to Equipment and Product Advisories, staff learning/training/development, projects support such as Alberta Surgical Initiative projects, costs containment, daily supply issues problem solving, response to emergent needs and requests (pandemic, wildfires, ...).
Supply Chain certification from organizations such as SCMP or NIGP, or Diploma/bachelor’s degree in supply chain or Experience in health care supply chain may also be considered as equivalent. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience required. Minimum of 3 to 5 years multifaceted supply chain related experience in inventory operations, logistics, distribution, forecasting/planning, procurement, etc. Oracle (purchasing, financials, inventory management) or other ERP experience preferred. Demonstrated application of abilities in facilitation, team building, change management, project management, and process improvement methodologies. Relationship building both with Clinical Operations and leadership will be essential to the success of this position.
The successful incumbent must have the following: Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to effectively lead and facilitate large group meetings. Demonstrated business acumen. Able to work effectively independently as well as part of leadership team. Demonstrated ability to interact with Senior Management and mentor staff as well. Advanced problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge.
Experience working in a health sector management position is a strong asset given the unique nature of internal (front line clinical staff, physicians, management and executive).
