Description
Westlock is located in a rural setting, 70 km north of Edmonton. Westlock has an active OR with orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, obstetrics and general surgery. Westlock is also an Acute Stroke Center for the north. Westlock Healthcare Center is a fast paced environment and requires individuals with strong communication and organizational skills.
As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.
Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
Ability to interact well with others. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy. Ability to walk, stand, lift, bend, twist and reach. Ability to lift at least 20lbs/9kg. Ability to maneuver and push/pull loaded carts.
1-2 years previous surgical processor experience. Six months orthopedic experience. Cataract experience preferred.
