The position is supported by 3 other trained assistants and our team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathology, Recreation Therapy and Social Work working in close collaboration with our nursing teams. Our dynamic Interdisciplinary team serves clients in their own homes, Lodges, Designated Supportive Living Spaces, Seniors Apartments and Long Term Care. There is a very strong focus on the multi-disciplinary and collaborative process including and focused on the patient. You will be required to work closely with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists supporting their care plan and treatment recommendations as required. You are expected to work independently and to full scope of practice. In addition to excellent wages and benefits; AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma is required. Excellent communication skills and collaborative skills required. Computer skills including MS Office, and experience with electronic charting is essential. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. The successful candidate requires a valid driver’s license without a GDL rating and a reliable vehicle. The successful candidate will be required to drive a fleet vehicle as appropriate and available. Previous Home Care experience is considered to be an asset, but we will train the right individual.
