If you are interested in a dynamic opportunity to support ambulatory specialty clinics, this role is for you! Situated within the High River General Hospital, the Specialty Clinics provide specialized care to patients within the Foothills area. This position reports to the Site Manager. The Unit Clerk works as a member of the health care team, collaborating to deliver holistic, comprehensive care that meets the needs of patients, families & community. The Unit Clerk is responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, patients & families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. This role is required to perform complex and specialized clerical duties.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Minimum one year of previous experience in in-patient or ambulatory clinic health care setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Computer literacy, including strong keyboarding skills. Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to Patient & Family Centered Care principles and team collaboration Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and can work both independently, and collaboratively, within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience in ambulatory clinics an asset. Rural healthcare experience is an asset. Demonstrate a willingness to assume responsibility for maintaining her/his own competence and professional growth. Relevant Connect Care training is preferable.
