Grande Prairie is a growing city with over 60,000 residents and serving approximately 260,000 people in our area. This position is based in the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. The Unit Manager is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of the department. Additional responsibilities include Operational Leadership, Human Resource Management, and Financial and Risk Management. The Manager develops and implements strategies to meet unit availability targets. The successful candidate must be dynamic, innovative and a team player.

Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in a relevant regulated health related profession. Registration with the appropriate professional college in the Province of Alberta. Leadership experience.

Minimum of five years recent and relevant clinical and/or supervisory and/or leadership experience in the areas of addiction, concurrent disorders, mental health and mental illness. Experience in working in a management role and/or in the supervision of personnel with demonstrated supervisory/leadership skills and expertise. Demonstrated strong clinical knowledge and skills in the areas of addiction, mental health and mental illness, along with consistent efforts to maintain a high quality of client focused care and service. Demonstrated success in providing services in community/rural/remote settings. Demonstrated experience in program development and evaluation. Demonstrated ability to manage the budget for program area. Ability to lead front line staff in the analysis and resolution of challenging client care issues. Addresses staffing issues as they pertain to clinical functioning. Effective interpersonal relationship building skills, including conflict resolution. Strong problem solving and decision making skills. Crisis management and emergency response skills. Organization, planning, program, protocol, procedure development and implementation skills. Accurate computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Internet).

Change management and/or project management training.
