Description
Develop and strengthen students’ English language abilities in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Support other subject areas with regards to content-area vocabulary; create a schedule for students to attend tutoring sessions; create an individual or group program using appropriate EAL resources; identify problem areas; collaborate with classroom teachers, Education Support Services Team and the District EAL Team, as necessary; complete benchmark assessments at strategic intervals and attend district provided professional learning sessions. Travel within Anglophone South School District may be required for professional learning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should possess a B.Ed., or another Bachelor level degree, or a diploma; have knowledge of New Brunswick Curriculum Outcomes and Reading and Writing Standards; possess strong commitment to students’ academic and social development; have effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to function as a member of a teaching team; ability to work with individual students or groups; knowledge of the stages of Second Language Acquisition; knowledge of instructional strategies effective for English Language Learners; possess cross cultural understanding and sensitivity as well as the ability to work independently and solve problems. Preference may be given to applicants with a Certificate in TESL, SIOP or equivalent and/or experience teaching English Language Learners.
