Responsible for partnering with internal/external customers and traffic team members to provide consultation/advice regarding the movement of goods and materials globally in the most efficient & cost-effective manner as per the department and corporate strategic direction and plan, ensuring the delivery of quality product to the customer.
Acts as a senior/technical expert on traffic processes and shipment requirements of increased complexity to coordinate logistical and regulatory documentation related to the movement of freight globally.
- Act as a main point of contact and serve as the senior technical specialist/advisor to the organization for all matters pertaining to movement of all materials internationally. Collaborate with the launch team, supply chain and customer service on high complex/priority shipments
- Generate and coordinate all documentation related to the transport of goods and materials globally. Review and confirm all logistical documents are completed and accurate
- Collaborate with internal departments/customers and act as a resource to assist in the preparation/coordination of documents and scheduling/status notification of shipments globally to ensure effective utilization of freight forwarder services in a cost effective and timely manner. Ensure proactive follow up on critical high priority shipments, communicating and providing visibility to internal stakeholders
- Responds to complex or unconventional queries regarding Traffic issues
- Recommends actions or remedial actions to senior management in cases of non-compliance with Government regulating agencies
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with transportation partners in order to support the movement of goods globally in a cost effective manner, including pricing requirements and process improvements
- Recommends and implements changes to processes and procedures pertaining to the movement of goods and materials internationally, ensuring that each customer’s and their governing body’s needs are met. Participate in developing, recommending and implementing cross-functional project teams, systems, policies, procedures
- Educates and coaches internal stakeholders and more junior team members on traffic processes and shipment requirements
- Responsible for investigating deviation investigational reports within Traffic and Customs. Conducts all Traffic/Customs failures or deviations (temperature excursions, process and procedures, etc) and ensures investigations are initiated on a timely basis. Prepare and follow through on CAPA’s where required. Collaborate with Transportation providers when they are responsible for a deviation or incident
- Coordinate updates and revisions to Traffic/Customs Work instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Manage the document approval process using content server and QMS Trackwise
- Participate in the development of long term planning to support corporate goals, investigate new technologies, recommend process improvement opportunities and propose more economical traffic patterns to enhance customer service and reduce expenses; implement and/or support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
- Create and maintain internal SOPs and WIs and ensure all procedures with external partners are current
- Ensure that all shipments are complete with required documentation and oversee the entire shipment process utilizing internal/external systems
- Update skill database as per role competencies

- Education
- College or University in a related Logistics discipline
- FITT, APICS, CITT or P. Log an asset
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Working knowledge of SAP
- Experience
- 5 years minimum experience in the transportation/customs and logistics industry
