The Water Treatment Technician is responsible for ensuring the continued safe operation of water treatment systems and equipment. Carries out inspections, testing, repairs and maintenance for all facilities.
- Complete assigned operational checks on water treatment systems and completes daily system logs and tests. Report abnormal conditions to Building Services Manager.
- Stops / starts system as required (for repairs, after a fault shutdown / power failure).
- Troubleshoot, maintain, adjust, repair, replace, and calibrate water treatment system equipment or components having complex interlocking or inter-related circuits.
- Inspects water treatment systems for leaks.
- Verifies system temperatures, pressures, levels, flows, voltages etc.
- Completes assigned water tests and makes adjustments to system as required.
- Add salt to brine tank as required.
- Prepares and replaces analyser solutions as required.
- Completes system sanitation tasks as assigned.
- Cleans the outside of tanks and equipment.
- Compile and maintain all information and documentation relevant to water treatment systems (CMMS, Logbook, change control, update drawings, files etc.).
- Determines impact of required work, communicates, co-ordinates and supervises major repairs with other facilities staff / contractor and users to minimise service interruption.
- To work as part of a team with users, facilities staff and vendor to evaluate effectiveness of systems in order to make continuous improvements.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; locate and diagnose trouble in the water treatment systems or equipment.
- Recommend and maintain inventory of spare parts to minimise any downtime on the system.
- Ensure that all work is performed in full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and established safety standards.
- Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

- Education
- Grade 12 combined with a community college diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Experience
- Two years previous experience in the operations / maintenance of various complex purified water treatment systems is preferred.
