Job Summary

Contribute your organizational abilities in this independent key role
The District Operations Technician reports directly to the District Engineer. Responsibilities include the following: Maintains and updates the ministry infrastructure inventory systems, [specifically the Corporate Highway & Resource Information System (CHRIS)]; assists in the administration, overseeing and monitoring of the road and/or bridge maintenance program; ensures work carried out by the Contractors is in accordance with the contractual agreements; delivers and monitors a variety of special projects and new Initiatives that change depending on the mandate for the district office; manages ministry resources, such as the gravel pit inventories and ensures control of assets; manages the district sign program.

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
  • A Technological Diploma, a minimum of four (4) years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • A valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License in good standing.


Related experience must include the following:

  • Experience in the field of Highway Maintenance.
  • Experienced working with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in an administrative or coordination role including program management (such as budget management, planning or performance management).
  • Experience working productively and cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial management and contract management.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience.


Provisos

  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions and emergency situations affecting the Highway System.
