Job Summary

A strong and universally accessible child care system is an integral part of every child’s learning journey. Together, child care and education support young people to develop compassionate worldviews and consider important issues including diversity, equity, and inclusion, as foundational values of healthy communities. The Ministry of Education and Child Care is leading the implementation of ChildCareBC, the government’s 10-year strategy launched in 2018. This strategy is building affordable, accessible, quality, inclusive child care as a core service for families, and plays a key role in government’s commitment to putting people first.

The Digital Design and Engagement Strategist provides leadership to enhance service delivery on the web through creation, delivery, and governance of engaging content. This position creates innovative content solutions that impact users, translating business needs into user-focused solutions through workflows and user interface design.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Diploma in User Experience Design, Communications, Multi-Media, Computer Science, or related field, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience is required in each of the following:
    • Identifying and developing content strategies for the web and/or other mediums with a client service and continuous improvement focus
    • Analyzing research data and compiling findings into reports
    • Building relationships with interest-holders to successfully plan and implement strategies with a service quality focus
    • Summarizing and communicating technical expertise and ideas into user-friendly information or products (e.g., info graphics, PowerPoint presentations, plain language web content)

Preference may be given to applicants with the following education and/or experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in User Experience Design, Communications, Multi-Media, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Using content management software such as CMS Lite, WordPress, or equivalent
  • Using Adobe Creative Suite products or similar graphic design programs
  • Practicing user experience design, information architecture, content development and SEO standards

Preference may also be given to candidates with additional years of experience in any of the above experience requirements and/or preferences.

This is a temporary opportunity until June 6, 2025.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.

Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
