Job Summary


The Team
The Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Branch (MARB) manages the successful completion of projects and initiatives of strategic importance to the Government of British Columbia. The Branch ensures that the Government’s anti-racism mandate commitments and its legislative obligations under the Multiculturalism Act are fulfilled with three core objectives: championing anti-racism across government, addressing systemic discrimination, and supporting communities to respond to racism and hate.

The Role
The Program Advisor leads and manages strategies, programs, and initiatives that promote multiculturalism and address racism. The position includes managing annual reports, proclamations, grants, collaborations, and partnerships, and specializes in building broad and inclusive stakeholder relationships that support and advance MARB’s objectives.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Lived experience self-identifying as Black, Indigenous or a person of colour.
  • Degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences, humanities, communications, negotiation/conflict resolution or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working with diverse partners, and interested and affected parties in delivering projects or programs, with a preference for experience in cross-cultural diversity, multiculturalism and/or anti-racism issues.
  • Advanced experience in government and non-profit procurement processes, including expertise in developing and responding to Requests for Proposals, managing grants, vendor management, etc.
  • Experience overseeing change management and building strong relationships with internal and external partners, and interested and affected parties, including facilitating meetings, events, or engagement.
  • Experience in compiling information from various sources, such as different ministries, and translating it into easily understood content for annual reports and other documents.
  • Experience in program design and evaluation, including researching and analyzing complex issues, recommending program and policy-focused solutions, developing program/policy objectives and intended outcomes, and monitoring and evaluating results.
  • Experience independently managing long-term, complex projects from inception to completion, with a focus on effective project management practices.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until June 30, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
