Job Summary

Influence complex natural resource initiatives in British Columbia

The Permitting Transformation Division is led by the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship. The division brings together multi-disciplinary teams from across the natural resource sector to address challenging, high priority initiatives and strategies. The Division is tasked to steward water and land resources and undertake sustainable decision making.

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Planning, this position is responsible for managing the change management components of Strategic Planning. This includes a portfolio of high-profile cross-ministry priority projects. It requires guiding staff in project management and change management best practice throughout the project management life cycle. This position plays a leadership role in enabling process and policy changes needed to advance the transformation of natural resource permitting.

The Senior Project Management Advisor, Permitting Solutions ensures strategic planning best practices are thoughtfully incorporated into the planning and implementation of the project lifecycle. This position works in collaboration with partners and interested parties to develop change and communication plans for a portfolio of projects. This includes the mitigation and resolution of issues associated with adaptation to change.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field and 2 years of related experience; OR

  • Diploma in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field and 3 years related experience; OR

  • Certificate or coursework in project management, change management or a related field and 4 years related experience; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Related experience must include each of the following:

  • Experience leading teams or clients through change.

  • Experience independently managing projects.

  • Experience directing the work of others (professional employees, informal teams and/or consultants).

  • Experience applying change management principles.

  • Experience applying project management principles.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Change Management Certification

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
