Job Summary

Play a leadership role in supporting effective BC health system performance reporting!

The Ministry of Health is responsible for maintaining an accessible, high quality, affordable system for health service delivery that meets the needs of the citizens of the Province of BC. The Health System Information, Analytics and Reporting Division (HSIAR) is the primary source of high-value, actionable and integrated analytics and reporting services that inform strategic and operational decisions and drive improved health outcomes and health system performance.

The Ministry’s Data Management and Stewardship branch (DMS) provides leadership in the use of, and access to, health data to support evidence-informed decisions, policy, analysis and research directed to achieving improvements in health outcomes in British Columbia. The branch’s Data Warehouse Services (DWS) team operates and maintains the Ministry’s corporate data warehouse, Healthideas, the principal data and analytics platform supporting the Ministry and health sector’s needs.

The Director, Reporting Platform, plays a critical role in ensuring the effective ongoing operation and maintenance of the HSIAR’s reporting platform (applications and associated services and infrastructure), which includes user-friendly reporting portals. The primary focus of this position is to ensure that the reporting environment used to securely publish HSIAR’s portfolio of dynamic reports to Ministry and health system users is reliable, sustainable, and aligned with evolving stakeholder business requirements. Key responsibilities include developing and documenting processes, as well as overseeing day-to-day operations in accordance with industry best practices.

The successful applicate will leverage their strong communication and engagement skills while working with internal and external Health Sector business owners to meet their reporting needs. Additionally, managing vendor relationships to deliver necessary services for platform support, including maintaining feature backlogs and ensuring data privacy, is a crucial aspect of this role.

The ideal candidate will be process-oriented, have a technical background, and experience overseeing operational IT environments, including leading teams to successful outcomes. This position requires someone committed to teamwork and staff engagement. Job Requirements:
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics or other related discipline and a minimum of 3-years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics or other related discipline and a minimum of 5-years of related experience; OR
  • Certificate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics or other related discipline and a minimum of 7-years of related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Recent related experience must include all the following:

  • Experience in a leadership role in the successful delivery of digital products or services; successful design, delivery and ongoing management of high-quality services which maximized opportunities offered by digital technology.
  • Experience presenting status of project implementation / issues to Sr. Executives.
  • Experience in project management at the enterprise level.
  • Experience of current agile project management practices, open source, cloud platforms and digital services.
  • Experience challenging and removing any unnecessary barriers to product delivery.


Preference may be given to those with experience in:

  • Experience managing complex enterprise IM/IT projects with multiple interdependencies including major business transformations, strategic communications, and the oversight of system integrators.
  • Experience with change management processes.
  • Experience with the data analytics programs within the Health Sector such as Power BI, MicroStrategy and SAS.
  • Experience with related UX practices and skills, including content design, content strategy and information architecture.
