Job Summary

An opportunity to promote change and support wellness initiatives for children, youth and families across the Province

The Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions leads the Province of British Columbia in efforts to improve the mental well-being and reduce substance use-related harms for all British Columbians. The ministry has overall responsibility for the development of a coherent, accessible, and culturally safe mental health and addictions system that is effective for individuals and families across the lifespan throughout the province. The Provincial Support Office is responsible for the operational implementation and delivery of Integrated Child and Youth Teams, a new and innovative model of community-based mental health and substance use services for young people and their families in British Columbia.

This position provides leadership and oversight to staff providing backbone support to partners who are implementing Integrated Child and Youth Teams and other key government priority initiatives. This role leads the successful development, implementation and evaluation of major projects or business components of large multi-faceted projects and/or a portfolio of projects with multiple key deliverables. Projects are taken from original concept through to final completion and evaluation.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field (related field includes public sector, social sector, project management, management and leadership); OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and complex project or program experience may be considered.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of major projects.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing relationships and leading engagement with senior level partners. Relevant experience must be a combination that includes all of the following:
    • regularly chairing and leading groups comprised of diverse interest holders;
    • leading engagement sessions to develop joint project plans;
    • deliberately establishing and maintaining relationships to foster cooperation and understanding; and,
    • using conflict management and problem resolution skills.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in directing the work for other external project managers, professional employees, and/or consultants.
  • One (1) or more years of experience supervising, developing and empowering staff.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Change management experience.
  • Experience leading projects/programs in the social sector.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and communities.
  • Lived or living experience of, or experience working with populations with, complex health and social challenges.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
