Job Summary

Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. EMCR works directly with local governments, Indigenous Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The Financial Service Desk Administrator is the primary contact for all EMCR end users in providing support, assistance, and training with the day-to-day operation of the government financial systems. This includes iProcurement, iExpense, CHIPS and Time and Pay. Acts as EMCR reporting expert for CHIPS, Data Warehouse and CAS Oracle. This position also provides support for general Accounts Payable processes, core policy inquiries, administers EMCR signing authorities and acts as the corporate card coordinator for EMCR.

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent and one (1) year experience working in an office setting with computerized systems; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) year experience in assessing client needs/requirements and troubleshooting with clients.
  • One (1) year experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and OneNote).
  • One (1) year experience working with and providing guidance based on BC Government Core Policy and Procedures or experience in providing guidance and advice based on administrative or financial policies and practices.
  • Preference maybe be given to candidates with one (1) or more years of experience in any of the following areas:
    • Time & Pay (TLAM), or other payroll time management system, with managing entry and processing of staff’s time and leave.
    • PeopleSoft (CHIPS) or other human resource data management system.
    • Corporate Financial System (CFS), or other electronic financial system, managing, accounts payable, receivable, and other electronic financial transactions.
    • Contract administration, procurement, iProcurement, or other electronic procurement management system.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to five (5) days a week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Emergency Management & Climate Readiness offices: Saanichton, Victoria, Kamloops, Nelson, Prince George, Surrey, and Smithers.
