The Ministry of Health is responsible for maintaining an accessible, high quality, affordable system for health service delivery that meets the needs of the citizens of the Province of BC. Its mandate is to support and enhance a responsive, comprehensive, regionalized health care system that promotes and provides for the physical, mental and community health of all British Columbians.

The Finance and Corporate Services Division supports the Ministry Executive and programs by managing and ensuring a consistent approach to financial and corporate issues. The services are provided through seven branches: Financial Operations, Financial Analysis and Decision Support, Regional Grants and Decision Support, Business Financial Transformation, Capital Services, Audit and Investigations, and Logistics Strategy. These branches provide financial advice and assist programs to meet their strategic goals and operational plans, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and central agency directives.

Reporting to the Director, Decision Support, the Financial Analyst provides advisory services in the preparation of annual budgets; performs analysis of financial data and information; participates in the development and maintenance of a framework for setting, measuring, analyzing and reporting on financial performance; and integrates the reporting of financial and operational results.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Commerce or Finance or related field and one (1) year of *related experience OR
  • Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce Finance, or a Financial Management Certificate Program or related field and two (2) years of *related experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.


*Related experience must include:

  • Experience applying and interpreting general finance and administrative policies, processes, and controls.
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements.
  • Experience forecasting, developing and evaluating budgets.
  • Experience developing financial statements and reports.
  • Intermediate level experience using Excel in a financial environment including complex formulas, pivot tables and linked workbooks.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Chartered Professional Accounting Designation, or applicants who are currently or previously enrolled in the CPA professional education program.
  • Experience coordinating Quarter End/Fiscal Year End Financial Reporting.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
