Job Summary

The Team
The Accounts Receivable team is a small, dedicated group that values inclusivity and expertise. Established and highly knowledgeable, this team collaborates closely with the Receivables Management Office to manage the Ministry’s receivables through precise monitoring and financial reporting. Together, they make a meaningful impact by ensuring the accuracy and recovery of essential financial assets, fostering a supportive environment where everyone’s ideas matter.

The Role
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you’ll be a trusted leader across the Ministry, providing valuable guidance on budget planning and helping shape the financial impact of new initiatives. Your work will ensure that financial processes align with policies that benefit citizens across BC. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who’s passionate about applying their accounting expertise to manage complex accounts and make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive environment.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in the field of financial management, such as the Financial Management Certificate Program, or equivalent.
  • Experience in the application of general finance and administration policies and processes, financial reporting, and financial systems and controls.
  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research to support budget development and evaluation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience supervising staff in a union environment.
  • Experience managing an accounts receivable portfolio.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
