Job Summary

The Team
The Forest Investment and Reporting Branch is a team of passionate forest professionals and dedicated individuals committed to making a meaningful impact in silviculture investments. As part of a small, established team of three in the North Area, you will contribute to critical wildfire restoration efforts that shape the future of BC’s forests. This team is known for its can-do attitude, strong collaboration with other districts and delivery partners, and commitment to ensuring work is done thoroughly and effectively.

The Role
As a Forest Investment Specialist, you will play a key role in coordinating with partners in the Forest Investment Program (FIP) within the North Area. Your work directly contributes to growing resilient forests, helping sequester carbon, and shaping the future of BC’s landscapes for generations to come. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or related field AND minimum 3 years of recent (within the last 6 years) related* operational experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Registered (or immediately eligible for registration*) as a Professional Forester with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia.
    * Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from another Canadian jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the appropriate BC association. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.

*Related experience must include:

  • Delivering multiple large scale natural resource management projects, AND
  • Working in a silviculture or reforestation program, AND
  • Planning, implementing or managing climate change adaptation and/or mitigation projects.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience working with First Nations
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Education in forest carbon or climate change adaptation
  • Preparing and delivering presentations on technical information and concepts
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal greenhouse gas emission/reduction policies

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Northern Ministry of Forests office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
This is a temporary opportunity until September 01, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
