FFAB has overarching oversight for the allocation and management of approximately $8 billion of operating and special purpose funding to BC’s 60 boards of education and more than 300 independent school authorities.

The Senior Policy Analyst reports directly to the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy Unit. Members of the Unit work closely with two other work units within the branch:
- Funding and Allocation - funding allocations, modelling and financial data analysis, and
- School District Reporting - school district budgeting, reporting requirements and financial management.
The Role:
In this Senior Policy Analyst position you will coordinate and lead the research, analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of strategic policies and projects, programs, regulation, and legislation.
This includes defining project goals and objectives, scope deliverables, communication plans and performance measures related to BC K-12 school district funding and financial governance.
You will lead engagement across ministry business areas like Inclusive Education, Dual Credit Programs, Indigenous Education, as well as sector wide committees in the development and management of financial policies.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in public administration, public policy, business administration, law, economics, social sciences or related field and two (2) years of related* experience OR
- Degree in public administration, public policy, business administration, law, economics, social sciences or related field and three (3) years related* experience
- A combination of education and **work-related experience may be considered
Related experience must include each of the following:
- Experience in the development and/or writing, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of policy.
- Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis, including analyzing and interpreting data.
- Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments using project management best practices. For example, project methodologies and/or project management tools.
- Experience developing, fostering and maintaining effective relationships with sector partners, colleagues, and other government agencies.
- Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents.
Preference may be given to candidate with experience in one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience in the development of regulation and/or legislation.
- Experience working in the BC Public Service.
- Experience in the form of work experience over education related i.e. managing a project that involves managing timelines of when a paper or assignment was due at school.
- Experience leading teams through a project and/or policy lifecycle.
- Experience collaborating with diverse partners and rightsholders.

This position's headquarters is located in Victoria or Vancouver. Victoria has two building locations, both with space to accommodate in-office work. The Vancouver office may be accessed for limited drop-in use. Please contact the hiring manager for further details or if you have any questions. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
