The Team
The Child Care Access Policy Team is an established group of 8 professionals, including a Director, 2 Managers, and 5 Policy Analysts, focused on strategic access and space creation policies in the child care sector. This team works closely with other divisions within the Ministry, such as early learning, capital, and child care policy teams, to increase access to affordable, inclusive, and quality child care, including successfully funding over 39,000 new child care spaces since 2018. Known for their dedication and collaboration, the team fosters a positive, supportive work environment where members enjoy working together toward impactful policy outcomes that enrich the lives of BC families.
The Role
This Senior Policy Analyst role focuses on conducting policy analysis related to child care access and space creation, working closely with the Manager, Director, and fellow analysts to advance BC’s vision of universal access to licensed child care. The work has a significant impact on families, particularly women, by addressing barriers to affordable, quality child care, which supports child development and contributes to stronger communities and a healthier economy. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and *recent, related experience may be considered
*Recent (within the last five (5) years), related experience must include two (2) years in each of the following:
- Researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis
- Analyzing and interpreting data in a policy context
- Providing recommendations based on research and policy analysis
- Developing and/or interpreting regulations, legislation, broad-scale policies and/or broad-scale programs
- Preparing briefing materials, developing presentations, drafting reports and creating communications for interest-holders
- Managing projects and/or project components
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
- Experience working with First Nations, Métis or Inuit partners
- Experience working on provincial policies or programs in a public sector environment
- Experience working in the Early Learning and Child Care sector
- Applicants with three (3) or more years of *recent, related experience

About this Position:
There are currently five (5) temporary appointments available until October 21, 2025.
A permanent appointment may result from these temporary appointments.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved Telework Agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
