Job Summary

The Team
The Provincial Equipment Depots team is the backbone of BC Wildfire Service’s logistics, ensuring specialized fire equipment and mobile camp infrastructure are ready when and where they’re needed. With around 40 employees across two locations, this well-established team has been providing expert procurement, management, and movement of critical resources for over 45 years. Working closely with Fire Centres, Zones, and Incident Management Teams, they play a vital role in wildfire response-operating behind the scenes with dedication and resilience to support frontline crews and protect communities across BC.

The Role
The Fire Camp Coordinator plays a key part in setting up, maintaining, and taking down emergency fire camps that support BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) front line staff. Your work helps ensure firefighters have safe, functional spaces while they protect communities across the province. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 Education plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience in building or mobile infrastructure maintenance and repair; experience must include basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and gas systems; and
  • EOCP Small Water Operators Certification (Environmental Operators Certification Program) or minimum 3 years’ experience with operation and/or maintenance of small water and wastewater systems or components.
  • Valid Forklift certification; and
  • Valid OFA Level 1 Certification; and
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license


Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following

  • Experience in mobile camp construction, maintenance, and operations.
  • Experience in construction and associated trades
  • Experience using the B.C. Guidelines for Industrial Camp Standards.
  • Experience in camp operations.
  • Class 3 or Class 1 driver license

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures
  • To keep current on emerging issues.
  • To take in-house training and certification as required.
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
  • To work extended hours including weekends and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
  • To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
  • To be assigned or participate to Incident Command System positions and Incident Management Teams as required.
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat, and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.
  • To work with human effluent and other biohazards in the fire camp environment.
