Job Summary

Reporting to the Geospatial Services Coordinator within the local natural resource district office, the GIS Technician creates digital, graphic and descriptive products to support natural resource planning through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) and other corporate business systems. The GIS Technician supports planning and operational initiatives by inputting and manipulating data; maintaining data integrity; conducting analysis; and producing associated maps and reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in geographic information systems; OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and related experience.
  • Experience capturing, converting, creating, editing and maintaining digital information in a GIS environment.
  • Experience creating a variety of digital, geographical and descriptive products such as thematic maps, terrain models and/or associated descriptive statistics.


Preference may be given to those applicants with:

  • Experience working with ESRI (ArcGIS) software products.
  • Operational forestry experience.
