The Business Risk Management Branch (BRMB) provides agricultural risk management services to help farmers and farm organizations proactively manage uncertainty through production insurance, income stabilization and wildlife damage compensation programs. These programs are funded through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership Agreement between the provinces and Canada. This Agreement obligates the provinces to fund and deliver the suite of BRM programs which include: AgriInsurance (Production Insurance); AgriStability; AgriRisk; AgriInvest; AgriRecovery and Agricultural Wildlife Damage Compensation. The suite of programs helps viable farming operations protect themselves from severe financial losses due to weather perils and market conditions.

This position is responsible for BRM program delivery and works directly with agriculture producers. The primary focus of the position is providing claims investigation and adjudication expertise to ensure timely, accurate and principled claim outcomes. In addition, this position assists with client service, specifically providing information to enable effective use of BRM programs and to provide assistance to ensure timely, accurate and complete information in accessing BRM programs.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in business, agricultural science or a related field and a minimum of 3 years current, progressive and related agricultural work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (i.e., a master’s degree and less than 3 years related agriculture work experience, or high school graduation or equivalent and 5 or more ears related agriculture work experience etc.)


Preference may be given to candidates demonstrating:

  • Experience with claims adjusting strategies, loss validation and indemnity processes.
  • direct working experience in the BC tree fruit, berry, grape, vegetable, forage, grain and/or livestock sector.


PROVISIOS

  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the Ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).
  • A valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license or Canadian equivalent is required.
  • Field work is part of this role which may include travel and outdoor work in all weather conditions with the potential for wildlife overlap.
