The Team
The BC Timber Sales Mackenzie Pre-Award team is a diverse and collaborative group of forestry professionals. The Role
As a Pre-Award Operations Technologist, you'll manage multiphase contracts, including the development and continuous improvement of Timber Sale Licence Packages, while also supporting the handoff of projects from the planning team. The work directly impacts the forestry sector by creating timber sale opportunities for both small and large licensees. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduation from an approved technical institute with a diploma or degree in resource or forestry management and three (3) years of experience in one (1) or more operational field forestry activities, OR
- An equivalent combination of education or experience such as five (5) years of experience in one (1) or more area of operational field forestry.
Operational field forestry activities include the following:

- Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance
- Cut-block development
- Forest road engineering
- Silviculture
- Timber tenure development and administration
- Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent.
- Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Specific operational field-based forestry experience in tenure development, road and block layout, or timber tenure administration.
- Experience in contract or financial administration.

About this Position:
This position is located in Mackenzie.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill temporary and permanent vacancies.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.

You must be registered as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with FPBC, or able to transfer a current RFT (or related) membership to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Applicants who do not meet the RFT requirement may be considered at a lower classification, subject to having their Trainee Forest Technologist (TFT), Allied Science Trainee Forest Technologist (ASTFT), or related designation and are eligible to achieve their RFT (or greater) designation within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
