Description
The Team
As part of the Mountain Resorts Branch's Wildfire Risk Reduction work unit, you'll join an established team of technical staff, natural resource professionals, and administrative personnel based in Kamloops, BC. Together, the team develops and implements wildfire mitigation plans for BC's all-season resorts, reducing risks to infrastructure and ensuring public safety. You’ll work alongside a diverse group of professionals, senior management, and contractors, to help safeguard communities and support an inclusive and forward-thinking approach to environmental protection.
The Role
As the Land & Resources Coordinator, you will support the implementation of wildfire risk reduction plans and coordinate the review of forestry-related applications at BC’s all-season resorts. You’ll work closely with clients, interpreting their needs and guiding them through application and contracting processes to meet wildfire risk reduction and timber harvesting goals. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) and two (2) years of related experience OR
- Diploma in a natural resource management related field as accepted by the applicable governing body ((e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) and four (4) years related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid B.C. driver’s licence.
Related Experience must include all of the following:
- Experience in project management.
- Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
- Experience managing relationships with internal and external partners and leading engagement.
- Experience in conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- Experience with contract management including procurement, implementation, and financial administration.
- Experience with wildfire fuel management.
- Forest management experience.
Provisos
- Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Must be physically able to carry out fieldwork in difficult terrain.
- May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
