As our Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) you will assume a leadership role focused on enhancing the firm’s organizational performance by delivering integrated and innovative HR solutions, workforce planning directives as well as overarching talent and culture strategies. As a passionate practitioner in these areas, the successful candidate will draw upon a proven pedigree that has experienced success in inspiring transformative change.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities

  • Drive strategic initiatives focused on the evolution of internal Human Resources functions and delivering a differentiated talent experience.
  • Partner with senior vested parties to craft strategies that attract and retain top talent while driving business success.
  • Engage as a strategic business partner across all firm groups and service lines ensuring our HR strategies align with our overarching short and long term goals.
  • Champion a performance culture that embodies BDO’s values, mission, and code of conduct.
  • Constantly seek efficiencies and deliverables at best-in-class standards through benchmarking, process improvement and a scalable workforce model
  • Develop relevant and timely updates on metrics, statistics and trends with proactive recommendations to deliver strategies and hiring plans/goals.
  • Develop an annual national HR budget for approval of the COO and Board and monitor for compliance, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations including other professional services firms, academic partners, and provincial institutes.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Leadership Team of the firm for all strategic initiatives as they relate to Talent.
  • Work with international members on global Human Capital initiatives and identify opportunities with BDO USA for joint HR initiatives. Work with international members on global Human Capital initiatives.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines to keep our HR initiatives on track.

Your education & experience

  • You bring proven leadership in taking an organization to the next level of growth while operating in complex and fluid environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • You are an expert in people-centered design and create followership and buy in with your passion.
  • You have a successful record of results leading the HR function of a large, multi-faceted professional services or comparable organization.
  • You have an ability to interpret, prepare and communicate key messages in a clear, concise and compelling manner.
  • You are a data driven individual who generates and executes ideas at strategic and tactical levels.
  • You bring 15+ years of demonstrated experience building, designing, and implementing enterprise-wide Talent strategies.
  • You have a track record of coaching a high-performing, collaborative team in a fast-paced, service-driven environment with proven ability to lead a large, geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong strategic planning and analysis skills focused on identifying and evaluating alternatives in dealing with human capital in all of our strategic initiatives.
  • Proven leadership ability to coach, motivate, persuade, influence, and develop a team.
  • Strong business knowledge and acumen in order to effectively understand and fulfill business needs as it relates to talent.
  • You demonstrate an advisory mind-set and highest standards of ethics, integrity and professionalism.
  • You bring extensive experience building innovative, forward-thinking strategies that contribute to a strong high performing talent culture.
  • You hold a university degree ideally supplemented by a recognized designation, certification or Masters/Ph.D.
