Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR leadership: develop and implement Human Resources strategies, participate in organizational strategic planning with department Directors, and collaborate with the Director of Administration and Chief & Council on overarching goals.
- Recruitment and onboarding: manage the full recruitment cycle, including competency-based interviews, candidate testing, and selection recommendations. Oversee employees onboarding, orientation, and training programs.
- Employee relations and conflict resolution: provide leadership on employee relations, mediate conflicts, manage investigations, and oversee the progressive discipline process.
- Compensation and benefits management: Lead wage grid, conduct salary surveys, and evaluate job positions. Oversee employee benefits programs, ensuring employees are informed and benefits remain competitive.
- HR compliance and policies: ensure all HR policies, practices, and programs comply with federal and provincial regulations. Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and participate in the development of safe work policies.
- HR database and reporting: manage HR databases, personnel files, and reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Provide regular updates to the Chief & Council on HR matters.
- Training and development: plan and deliver training workshops for managers and employees, focusing on performance management, employee development, and workplace improvement.
- Budgets and financial management: develop and manage the HR department's budget, providing quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports for the Director of Administration and Chief & Council.
- Community and emergency services: participate in community events and support the Band’s emergency services as needed, with flexibility to adjust duties during emergencies.
- Administrative and reporting duties: oversee policy manual reviews, conduct job analysis, attend council and Health and Safety meetings, and support event planning and reporting.
- Additional responsibilities: perform other related duties as required, including supporting special projects, attending meetings, and contributing to initiatives in line with policies and operational needs.
