Under the supervision of the Manager Accounts Receivable, Credit & Cash Application, the Technician, Cash Application is responsible for processing payments received from customers and entering them into the AS400 computer system. The incumbent is also responsible for point-of-sale terminal reconciliation, bank reconciliation, journal entries and provides support to the collectors, the accounting department and to the service centers on issues that relate to cash application and the end-of-day process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out all activities related to cash application of payments received by cheque, electronic funds transfer and credit card.
- Perform bank reconciliation and credit card payments reconciliation (Moneris System).
- Perform check deposits using the bank scanner.
- Perform journal entries to accounts receivable.
- Perform journal entries for bad debt write-offs.
- Perform ledger reconciliation.
- Perform daily reconciliation of point-of-sale terminals for service centers in Canada.
- Provide support to service centers on the point-of-sale’s “end-of-day” process.
- Manage Moneris’s merchant number requests.
- Participate in various process improvement projects.
- Perform any other tasks related to these functions, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- DEC or Diploma of professional studies in administration or accounting.
- One (1) to two (2) years of cash application experience.
- Master basic accounting concepts (journal entries, bank reconciliation, etc.);
- Good knowledge of the MS office suite: Strong knowledge of Excel
- Good sense of organization and teamwork
- Ability to manage a large volume, prioritize tasks and follow up.
- Meticulousness, rigor, autonomy
- Knowledge of AS400 and Oracle would be an asset
- Bilingualism (French and English); oral and written communication skills in both languages.
