Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Successful completion of Grade 12 required
• Certificate of qualification for the Province of Ontario as a licensed Fourth Class Stationary Engineer. (Preferred)
• Certification as a Building Environmental Systems Technician (BES)/ Hospital Maintenance Technician (HMT) or Provincial or Inter-provincial ticketed building trade journeyman (i.e. Millwright, Plumber, Refrigeration Technician) required
• Certification as a Building Environmental Systems Technician (BES) within 2 years of hire required
• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems with emphasis on the chemical treatment and operation of chilled water and heating systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand technical maintenance manuals and drawings
• Knowledge of and experience with Building Automation computer control systems
• Must have knowledge of Ontario Building and Fire Codes
• Ability to handle constant walking, standing, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling
• Good communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Personal transportation required to provide service response for all Bluewater Health sites
• Knowledge and commitment to Preventative Maintenance, Customer Service and Quality Improvement
• Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with peers to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems
• Demonstrated performance reflecting the Mission, Vision Values and Code of Conduct of Bluewater Health
• Demonstrated ability to fulfil role within attendance management parameters
• Operation and maintenance of facility mechanical equipment, including boilers, chemical treatment systems, softeners, condensate systems and deaerator
• Operation and maintenance of all HVAC equipment, including air handler inspections and maintenance, instrumentation and control calibration, filter maintenance, hot water heating systems and associated preventative maintenance duties
• Responsible for working with the facilities management system
• Provide support to all departmental trades
• Provide response-based maintenance service to all departments and patient areas
• Participate in the maintenance, testing and operation of standby power systems
• Performs other non-mechanical duties as assigned.
Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
