The Customer Segments, Personal Banking team is responsible for defining, developing, and executing on cross functional customer centric strategies that drive personal banking customer acquisition among performing other core operational functions. As a key player on the New to Canada segments team, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of various partnerships and events across BC region focused around South Asian demographic that result in accelerated customer growth in Personal Banking.

You will be required to drive the growth of the customer base in regions through community engagement and branch collaboration with Centres of influence (COI) and community leaders from the private, public, and not for profit sectors. You will also be responsible for building a knowledge bank and becoming a subject matter expert in lead generation, business development efforts and customer acquisition while working closely with branch and regional leaders. You will find driving sales results by improving knowledge; providing field support; and performance reporting will be key to your success.

A typical workday may include:

  • Working closely with personal and business banking regional leaders to design and develop an action partnership and community engagement plan
  • Identify and develop compelling partnerships and COIs to help grow the priority segment portfolio and support customers with relevant value adds
  • Proactively establish community outreach to build awareness of BMO New To Canada Offerings and track success at the local level
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with referral partners or members of their team through active collaboration/consultation and ensure alignment with business goals
  • Support with Intl Students campus partnership execution in BC region and communicate results on an ongoing basis to key stakeholders
  • Development and maintenance of a key leader engagement matrix
  • Consulting with COIs, community, and regional personal and business banking leaders; identifying and executing opportunities and planning for field activations
  • Collaborate closely with the New To Canada Market Ambassadors to help build capabilities
  • Supporting branch teams at community events and/or in preparing and presenting a proposal or pitch deck to partners
  • Conducting customer growth skill builders, breaking down core customer growth skills into small steps which can be mastered one at a time
  • Monitoring and reporting on net funded customer acquisition, products per customer and balances by market
  • Gathering and sharing feedback from the field for the purpose of enhancing customer value propositions, with unique needs, the competitive landscape, and profitability top of mind
  • Supporting continued innovation and evolution of personal banking products and services

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

You have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrable track record of negotiating and closing partnership deals in a customer/partner facing role preferred
  • Ability to impact, influence and lead diverse and cross functional groups; experienced change agent
  • Solid leadership skills and traits
  • Strong communication skills
  • Resilience in the face of ambiguity or setbacks
  • Active listening and coaching skills
  • Comfort with drawing insights from customer segment numbers and analytics
  • The ability to multitask and stay organized amidst busy days and a large workload
  • Advanced MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Social selling skills
  • 5 days per week in office and 40% of local travel required (mileage compensated)

Salary:

$74,800.00 - $138,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
