We are searching for just the right developer to expand our Mainframe division! You have programming experience, are detail oriented and willing to learn the mainframe computing world and languages.

This is a hybrid role, based out of Toronto, will report into the Director of EDB Development. The Application Software Developer is accountable for the analysis, design, development, implementation and support of applications, in support of the Lines of Business strategies.

Some Specific Functions of This Role:

  • Writes high quality and well-documented code according to accepted standards based on user requirements

  • Leads in development, testing and implementation of small to mid-size initiatives

  • Participates in project and team meetings interacting and collaborating with team members and other departments as appropriate

  • Contributes to successful completion of project deliverables

  • Provides support to team members and application support analyst

Qualifications:

  • 2 - 5 years programming experience with extensive business knowledge

  • Thorough in-depth knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes from both an industry and BMO perspective

  • Previous systems analysis and programming experience with focus on business user/process

  • Solid understanding of SDLC and QA requirements

  • Strong analytical skills for complex problem solving

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Knowledge of the banking/financial industry is an asset

  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent

Skills:

  • Intermediate professional experience in design and development using mainframe technologies like z/OS, DB2, CICS, MVS, JCL

  • Willingness to learn High Level Assembler language or some HLASM experience

  • Good collaboration and multi-tasking capabilities

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Demonstrated success in working productively with business clients, developer peers, and technical specialists such as architects and DBAs

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Salary:

$74,800.00 - $138,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
