In this Individual Contributor role, the incumbent plans, prioritizes and delivers solutions that represent the best value technology spend while observing technology governance within prescribed limits. Manages and maintains data platform(s) delivered to the designated business/group. Acts as a platform or Product owner, understanding the shortcomings of the product and how to steer the strategy . Manages the end-to-end development/delivery process to ensure that the right solutions are delivered and addresses any operational concerns once in production (security, compliance). Delivers on time and one budget and adheres to required standards.

  • Knowledge of Tibco Spotfire:
    • In depth knowledge in application architecture, data modeling/movement, and infrastructure administration
    • In depth knowledge report development -> Spotfire information designer, python scripting

  • Knowledge of Power BI:
    • In depth knowledge over Power BI architecture in Cloud - Data movement from on premise to cloud
    • In depth knowledge of road mapping

  • AWS Cloud
    • In depth knowledge of cloud migration
    • Understanding the on-prem ecosystem and experience migrating to cloud

  • General SDLC process and product knowledge:
    • Development of relevant patterns, strategy of product
    • Knowledge of version control
    • Be able to work with other stakeholders (architects, cloud engineering) in driving solution/patterns.

  • Design/Architecture:
    • Participate in the conceptual phases of identifying and solving business problems and initiatives as a BI and Analytics subject matter specialist.
    • Evaluate emerging BI technologies and the evolution of current technologies to define a future vision roadmap for optimal application of technology to meet business needs.
    • Consult with application development teams to address issues relating to application architecture, such as performance or availability, and recommend BI and Analytic solutions.
  • Provides strategic input into managing the platform and BAU activities as well as future state of the platform
  • Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals.
  • Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
  • Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues (security, compliance)
  • Provides internal stakeholders with an effective primary point of contact and ownership for planning, delivery and management of technology solutions.
  • Plays a Product Owner role, incorporating new features into the product
  • Ensures ongoing viability of technology platform assets.
  • Identifies opportunities and provides recommendations by communicating complex technical strategies and design to senior leaders.
  • Provides informed and considered recommendations & solutions to complex technical issues to improve productivity and profitability of technology platform assets.
  • Recommends and approves changes to systems, procedures, products and people to meet plans, achieve goals, and maximize scorecard.
  • Defines and documents application architecture & other system documentation to ensure adherence to standards and alignment to the technical strategies.
  • Participates in the development of business/group strategic plans to enable annual results as well as results over a longer timeframe.
  • Collaborates to identify high value technology requirements and solution opportunities.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 10 years of work experience in Business Intelligence technical roles
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (computer science, engineering, information systems, math)
  • Expert level of knowledge in PowerBI suite of tools
  • Knowledge of Spotfire (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
  • Knowledge of cloud migration practice
  • Ability to create Roadmaps and drive the migration to cloud strategy
  • Understand functional aspects and technical behavior of the underlying operating system, development environment, and deployment practices.
  • Have facility with and understanding of the ecosystem that code operates in.
  • Experience managing a suite/portfolio of applications
  • Experience as a Product Owner

Salary:

$92,400.00 - $171,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
