TEMPORARY CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER
Full time - 35 Hours per Week - 10 Month Position (1.0 FTE)
Effective: Immediately; Duration: December 20, 2024
Q ualifications
Successful completion of a three-year post secondary child and youth worker diploma program plus a minimum of two years related job experience in child youth work;
Good working knowledge of relevant legislation and the developmental needs of children/youth;
Strong knowledge of group work practice and the ability to function effectively in group work;
Ability to function independently within the framework of a team.
Self-starter with strong, organizational skills and the ability to manage caseload duties;
Ability to deal with students in a calm, compassionate and professional manner;
Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information;
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities
Participate, as required, in meeting the social, emotional and behavioural objectives for students;
Assist in planning social, emotional and behavioral management programs, including participation in the delivery to students;
Provide support in collaboration with teachers, parents and other support services;
Assist in implementing therapeutic programs to individual and small groups of students;
Provide counseling and crisis intervention to individuals and groups;
Observe and monitor students’ behavior and inform teacher/principal of progress;
Liaise with parents and community agencies as required through the Principal;
Deliver disciplinary measures in accordance with the Code of Behavior and Catholic values;
Attend and participate in staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned;
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Child and Youth Worker Supervisor.

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13,000 students from Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk counties, the City of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
