Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced sustainability and ESG manager to lead our organization’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainability/ESG strategies, monitoring and reporting on progress, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of ESG frameworks and sustainability practices, a business-oriented mindset and very good leadership capabilities.
YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
ESG Risk Management and Strategy Development:
- Assess and manage ESG-related risks and opportunities, including climate risk, supply chain risks, and reputational risks.
- Integrate sustainability considerations into enterprise risk management processes.
- Develop, implement, and manage the company’s sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices, and identifying key ESG opportunities to drive long-term value creation.
- Support operational teams in the implementation of initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint (e.g. carbon reduction, circularity, energy efficiency).
- Lead the development of ESG performance metrics and set measurable goals to measure progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor global trends, policies, and innovations in sustainability to keep the company at the forefront of sustainable practices.
Disclosure and Reporting:
ESG Reporting
- Lead the preparation and publication of voluntary and mandatory ESG disclosures, including annual reports, regulatory filings and ESG ratings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant reporting regulations (e.g. CSRD, ISSB, etc.) and standards (e.g. GRI, CDP, TCFD, etc.).
- Monitor disclosure emerging trends and regulatory developments.
ESG Data Management
- In close cooperation with the Finance team, oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG data from various internal departments and external sources.
- In collaboration with Finance and IT, develop robust data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal teams across the organization (e.g. supply chain, operations, HR, marketing) to integrate sustainability into business processes.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including investors, NGOs, community leaders, and regulators, to communicate sustainability efforts and gather feedback.
YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
- 10+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility roles. Experience in an industry (e.g. manufacturing, automotive) with a similar ESG profile would be a plus.
- Expertise in environmental issues (e.g. energy, circularity, carbon footprint, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of ESG disclosure frameworks, reporting standards (e.g. GRI, GDP, TCFD) and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale sustainability projects and initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to drive change and influence decision-making at all organizational levels, including senior leadership level.
- Ability to exchange and interact with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec on a daily basis.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, business, sustainability, or a related field.
