Buffalo Trail Public Schools requires an immediate full-time temporary Jr. High Math teacher at Hughenden Public School.

Specific position details:

Start Date: Immediate

End Date: Nov 8, 2024 (tentative)

Location: Hughenden Public School - Hughenden, Alberta

Subject Areas: Grade 7-9 Math and options. Other subjects may be assigned depending on the skill set of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Shall be a dynamic student-centered educator committed to maximizing learning in a safe and caring environment

Experience and/or training in the application of Assessment for Learning strategies, embedded formative assessment, and varied summative assessments is essential

Possess a strong background in the use of technology to enhance student learning

Ability to create a positive learning environment and foster positive professional relationships with students

Is dependable with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting

Demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and continually increasing their effectiveness as an educator

A willingness to participate in extracurricular activities would be considered an asset

Hughenden Public School is about 2.5 hours southeast of Edmonton. It is a lovely rural school from grade 4-12 serving Metiskow, Czar, Amisk, Hardisty and Hughenden. HPS also offers a variety of extra-curricular programming such as athletics, leadership, and students' union.

The village of Hughenden offers a general store, bank, library, post office and daycare center. For recreational facilities, there is a golf course, arena and bowling alley. It's a short commute to the villages of Czar and Amisk which offer other recreational activities such as ball diamonds, curling in the winter and watersports in the summer at Shorncliffe Lake (Czar). For optimal amenities, the Town of Wainwright is a short 30 minute drive away.
