About the Position:
A Welder is responsible to fabricate and weld a variety of custom metal projects.. Fitter/Welders are responsible for the layout, fitting and welding fabrication.

Hours of Work:
Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday - Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week
Afternoon Shift: 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM (Monday - Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week

What will you be doing:

  • Work in compliance with the provision of the Act and the regulations and all applicable legislation;
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn;
  • Be trained in the appropriate welding procedure and on the appropriate welding machine;
  • Follow CPF Policies and procedures for safety and execution of work
  • Work and assist other workers in continuously improving safety;
  • Note any problems or potential hazards to the Plant Manager and/or Supervisor that may cause personal injury or property damage, delays in production shipments, or that may affect the quality of manufactured product;
  • Able to understand, interpret and lay out work as per engineering drawings, bill of materials and work orders;
  • Full understanding of blueprints, weld symbols and bills of material
  • Enact repairs and rework as required to maintain customer tolerances
  • Understanding of metallurgy, shrink rates of steel, and warping of steel as considerations during product fit up
  • Responsible for proper use and handling of company, co-workers and personal equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Ensure work area is always kept clean, tidy and safe;
  • Fitting parts that they have been assigned ensuring products are made to the design and are within required tolerances
  • Fitting of panels, boxes, cylinders and transition pieces in both stainless and carbon steels
  • Operate a welding machine in a safe and professional manner.
  • Fit/Weld any job as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or Supervisor. This may include but is not limited to working at certain heights, working within confined spaces and welding in some areas for a prolonged time period. When welding at certain heights and/or in confined spaces, additional training may be required. The ability to be agile and flexible for welding in any position(s) is required. Welding of various metals may be required.
  • Ensure MSP practices are followed at all times
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately in all steps within the process of manufacturing.
  • Maintain a consistent line of communication between themselves, the Team Lead and/or workers on opposite shifts.
  • Be a team player and cooperate and communicate efficiently with the Plant Manager, Supervisors and fellow coworkers,
  • Perform other duties outside the normal scope of their daily tasks for the betterment of the company.
  • Correctly fill in and hand in daily timecards.
  • Frequent use of overhead cranes, forklift, ladders and other equipment as per company procedures. No equipment shall be used/operated unless proper training is received and documented.

Requested skills

What you bring to Cambridge Pro Fab Inc:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Fitter Welder (FCAW, GMAW and GTAW).
  • Successful complete of in-house testing. Weld Test - FCAW Carbon Steel testing as it’s the process used most in the shop. Fillet Weld Test CSA W47.1. We provide the weld procedure. Blueprint reading test.
  • Current CWB welding tickets is considered an asset
  • Some of your own tools (minimum Required).
  • Knowledge and experience in welding various positions and materials
  • Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to Work well under pressure
  • Physical dexterity
  • Safety conscious work habits
  • Effective communication skills (both written & verbal)
  • Accountability and ability to work in a team or with minimum supervision
  • Willingness to work different shifts and extra hours as required.
