THE ROLE

Imagine the excitement and ability to show off your incredible skills in a deployed environment (overseas) for six months coordinating travel for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from across the world! As a deployed Travel & Recreation Coordinator or Supervisor, you are not just providing travel services, but enhancing the morale and welfare of all the troops deployed.

The Travel Coordinator and Supervisor are part of an enthusiastic team of adventurous individuals who enjoy meaningful employment and contributing in a team-based environment. Excited by the opportunity to deploy as a civilian among CAF personnel abroad, you are a team player with a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting. You are able to adapt to new challenges in an ever-changing dynamic environment.

The Travel Coordinator and Supervisor coordinate a critical part of any deployment; vacation. You will coordinate travel to reunite CAF members with family at home or to an approved destination somewhere around the world. You will conduct briefings, provide advice and guidance while ensuring policy is followed and financial claims are completed and processed correctly.

The Supervisor is selected from the pool of Coordinator candidates and after successful completion of the Training and Selection Course.

The Supervisor leads and manages the Travel department. They support a team of Coordinators towards delivering exceptional service for the CAF members, while ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They are responsible for managing the team members’ schedules, performance management, and overall operation of the department.

The Travel Coordinator and Supervisor plays an important role in enhancing the morale of military members by planning recreational activities, outings and events. Keeping the military energized ensures they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the difficulties of military operations, and live healthy balanced lives.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

A demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. This includes but not limited to demonstrated military, education, training or experience.

Canadian citizenship

Must have a valid Canadian passport

Valid Canadian driver’s license (Class G or Class 5)

Experience

In coordinating and planning recreational activities, travel and accommodation

In conducting presentation

In and applying policies, procedures and regulations

In providing recommendation regarding tourist attractions, foreign currency, customs, language, and travel safety

In providing recreational information to clients

In providing travel information to clients regarding destinations, transportation and accommodation

In office practices and protocol

In scheduling, organizing and overseeing activities for program development and delivery

Additional Supervisor Experience

In supervising and planning for services such as travel and accommodation

In personnel administration

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Additional Qualifications Prior to Deployment

Completion of a health, dental and psychosocial assessment

Security screening

Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications

Ability to walk and lift, carry, pull/or push heavy items

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Recruiting for positions with multiple language requirements.

JOB INFORMATION

POSITION TYPE

Civilian deployment contracts are 6 month terms. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary: $36,425 - $ 46,115 for six months

Hours of work: Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends.

Tax free allowance: Possibility of up to $1,716 per month in addition to your salary (Allowance rates are based on mission/location/date).

Home Leave Travel Allowance (Vacation): Possibility of paid leave (vacation).

Accommodations and meals: provided for duration of deployment.

Health Benefits: Drug coverage, travel insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Excursions: Possibility to explore and experience the local culture and environment through activities like excursions off base.

LOCATION: Camp Adazi, Latvia

IF SUCESSFUL - SELECTION AND TRAINING COURSE

Successful candidates will be invited to participate in a multi-day training and selection course.

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Date: April 25, 2025 - May 4, 2025

Compensation: Fully paid attendance, including travel, accommodations and meals

Purpose: You will learn more in-depth about the day-to-day expectations, technical work-related training, as well as a basic understanding of military practices and procedures. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about our organization as well as interact with like-minded people that may be deploying with you. Your completion of the training session will be valid for 2 years.
