THE ROLEThe Human Performance (HP) Research & Development (R&D) team contributes to the well-being and effectiveness of the Canadian Armed Forces. We provide internationally recognized expertise in developing physical employment standards, innovative training programs, and comprehensive occupational demands analyses. Our work also includes designing fitness assessment tools, enhancing mental performance, optimizing performance nutrition, and implementing injury prevention and tracking strategies. By collaborating closely with the military chain of command, we develop impactful and relevant solutions to complex human performance challenges. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HP R&D, Canadian Special Operations Forces Command, the Human Performance Laboratory Coordinator / Research Assistant will be a key enabler in achieving the team's objectives. This role involves coordinating and conducting data collection activities for research projects in both field and laboratory settings, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our data. You will liaise with researchers to resolve equipment needs and develop innovative solutions, while also creating, inputting, and maintaining results in research databases. Additionally, you will develop Standard Operating Procedures and user manuals for the Human Performance Research Laboratory, track lab equipment usage, and provide insightful reports to supervisors. Your recommendations on new equipment purchases and maintenance will ensure our lab remains at the cutting edge of technology. You will also oversee the day-to-day logistics for testing facilities, equipment setup, calibration, and inspection, and maintain necessary research equipment and supplies. Staying current with technological advancements, your contributions will directly support the development of impactful solutions that enhance the performance and well-being of our members and the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field AND some years experience in a related field
AND
Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) certification, an asset

In developing research hypotheses, designs and methodologies
In data collection and compilation of research data
In conducting field and laboratory physical fitness and exercise testing
In operating research equipment, hardware and research specialized software
In use and maintenance of high performance fitness/physiological testing, research equipment and hardware

OTHER INFORMATION- This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
