THE ROLE

As a Mess Manager, you provide an excellent customer experience in our military messes. During big events to every day moments, you will build a rapport with the military community while utilizing your operational and hospitality experience. Military messes are places where Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members come together to socialize and foster morale.

The Mess Manager will ensure smooth operation of the messes’ activities and operations, including bar operations, while adhering to strict requirements for health, hygiene and safety. You will manage the scheduling, training and performance of employees. You will develop operations budgets, business plans and monitor and report on all expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

College diploma or certificate in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management, or related field AND some years of experience in hospitality, food & beverage sector

OR

High school diploma AND some years of experience in the food service sector, or in a related hospitality field

AND

Must be of legal age to serve alcohol in Province

Must possess a Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification

Valid driver’s license (Province), an asset

Knowledge

Of hospitality services, practices, and theories

Of general business practices and theories

Of health and safety programs and procedures

Of budget administration

Of mixed drink preparations

Of loss prevention

Experience

In providing hospitality and bar operations services

In budget administration

In cash handling

In event planning and organizing

In organizing banquets and functions

In inventory and bar management

In personnel administration
