Join our dynamic Bitumen Production Process Engineering team and immerse yourself in the world of chemical engineering! This is a unique opportunity for a passionate chemical engineering student to gain hands-on experience in optimizing production processes, enhancing efficiency, and contributing to sustainable practices. In this role, you'll engage in short-range planning initiatives that focus on immediate operational improvements, while also contributing to our mid to long-range strategic projects aimed at innovation and growth. You'll work alongside seasoned professionals, tackling real-world challenges and developing solutions that drive our operations forward. - Term length: 8 or 12 months
- Term start: September 2025
- Job location: Fort McMurray, AB - Horizon Mine Operations
- Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, working Monday to Thursday

Key Accountabilities:
- Assist the Bitumen Production Process engineering team in activities relating to operations, maintenance, and engineering design
- Learn and understand the process, plant operations, and equipment
- Gather field measurements & data to assist engineers
- Review assets and data to see where we can improve and optimize the process
- Participate in developing and executing improvements in the field and lab (may include pilot development and execution)
- Collaborate with project and operations teams to resolve engineering issues and ensure alignment with operational requirements
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor Degree program in Chemical Engineering (or related program)
- Motivated and positive attitude
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
