Job summary

The Garden Centre Associate works in a fast-paced environment to deliver friendly and courteous service to customers. The role involves garden centre maintenance activities such as watering and caring for annuals, perennials and nursery stock, stocking shelves, merchandising and general housekeeping.

  • The rate for this position is flexible and will be adjusted based on the number of years of experience in the same industry and whether you are applying for a full-time or part-time role.

Responsibilities:

• Meet, greet and thank customers
• Guide customers to location of products
• Stock shelves and display areas
• Assist with carts and carry outs
• Assist receiving department with the unloading of trucks
• Keep stock clean, faced and orderly
• Locate products in the warehouse
• Keep informed of promotions & in-store deals

Requirements / Skills

• This role requires regular heavy lifting and is physically demanding. Candidates must be comfortable performing tasks that required standing, lifting, bending and other physical activities.
• A minimum of 1 year working in a similar retail environment
• Part-time applicants must be available for a minimum of 3 shifts per week. Must be available for weekend shifts. More hours may be available in the summer for students who would like to increase hours.
• Full-time applicants must also have weekend and evening availability.
• Ability to provide professional customer service and employee support
• Must be adaptable - Daily tasks may change frequently
• Ability to maintain composure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to complete tasks according to instructions and demonstrate responsibility for outcomes
