The opportunity

CWB Financial Group is currently on the search for a Manager, Market Liquidity Risk & Profitability Oversight to join our Risk Services team as an expert on interest rate risk. As a part of the Market, Liquidity Risk and Profitability Oversight (MLPO) team, the Manager will play a meaningful role in supporting the AVP, Market Risk, by conducting second line oversight of market risk in the banking book and maintaining CWB's interest rate risk models, influencing decision-making and risk appetite collaboration. This position focuses on interest rate risk management and reporting, ensuring robust risk assessment and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and enhance the in-house interest rate risk model.

  • Conduct internal reviews and monitoring processes, reporting findings to management.

  • Prepare independent reports on exposure against risk appetite for the Executive Risk Committee and the Board Risk Committee.

  • Maintain and update earnings and equity sensitivity and simulation models.

  • Independently acquire and analyze balance sheet information, providing calculated exposure against risk appetite.

  • Implement and coordinate emerging OSFI IRRBB guidance.

  • Review and challenge Treasury's key assumptions in interest rate risk management.

  • Assist in preparing materials for executive committees.

  • Refine existing interest rate models for measuring Net Interest Income (NII) and Economic Value of Equity (EVE).

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse environment.

  • Promote cooperation and commitment towards common goals.

Requirements:

To excel in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business management, quantitative finance, financial engineering, data analytics, or a related field. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and Financial Risk Management (FRM) certification would be considered assets. Additionally, you should have at least two years of experience in risk management within large financial institutions and familiarity with OSFI B12 reporting requirements. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and MS Office is also required, as is experience in preparing technical documentation for complex financial models and behavioral modeling for banking products and balance sheet forecasting. Experience with QRM, R, Matlab, and SAS is a plus.
