The opportunity
The Reporting & Controls Specialist role is part of Credit Support and is responsible for providing advice and support to reporting administration, retention, and auditability of Credit Support’s reporting and suspense accounts for Canadian Western Bank's loan portfolio. This role will contribute and support the Manager, Reporting & Controls to drive a high level of quality and standards, risk management, and strong data integrity.


Areas of focus


Risk Management

  • Support the organization by providing superior attention to detail when performing monitoring of report reviews and reconciliation while ensuring quality benchmarks for Credit Support are met.
  • Contribute and support the progress of continuous improvement of all Credit Support processes specific to reporting and risk mitigation through continuous collaborative approach with the business and corporate departments.
  • Accountability as the team member for the execution of work procedures, policies, and methods to ensure compliance with Canadian Western Bank’s legal, regulatory business policies and procedures while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Lending Transaction Related Reporting (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual requirements), Backdated Transactions Greater than 10 Days Master Loan Exceptions, New and Increased Lending, Paid Out Loans.
  • Internal Suspense Account Reconciliation and Reporting: Fee Reconciliation - Refundable / Deferred, Lending Suspense Reconciliation, Wire Suspense Reconciliation, Daily Contract Balances
  • Payment Reconciliation: ACH Exceptions Reporting, Returned Items Reporting, Outgoing EFT Extract Report.

Profitability

  • Contribute to the progress of targeted benefit realization from credit processing standardization.
  • Actively works to ensure standardized lending administration processes are followed, and data integrity is consistently achieved, monitored, and maintained.
  • Participates in projects that primarily impact functional area, adhering to standard project governance practices and operating within approved budget.
  • Due diligence as it relates to Credit Support activities, procedures, and documentation for compliance with regulatory bodies.

Client Experience

  • Model a client-centric approach for team members and ensure a client-focused lens is used in providing reporting and suspense account reconciliation services to Credit Support.
  • Ensure quality benchmarks are being met.
  • Establish a collaborative and client-centric relationship within Credit Support while balancing the efficiencies and governance of a standardized structure.

Who we’re looking for & what you’ve done

Education

  • Diploma in Business Administration
  • Professional Experience
  • Minimum 1-5 years credit support experience

Personal Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of the Banking System, Loan Origination Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Forms
  • Understanding of process improvement and continuous process design to achieve optimization an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Customer focused with strong working knowledge of lending policies, procedures, regulations, documentation, compliance issues, audit requirements
  • Strong technology aptitude with an ability to support geographically diverse team
  • Ability to identify efficiencies and continuous improvement in processes aligned with corporate culture
  • Ability to solve problems and ability to diffuse challenging situations and find common ground
  • Incumbent will escalate to manager should issue require escalation
  • Respectful, proactive, and self-motivated team player
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in and drive multiple initiatives simultaneously
